The CSFC
serves as the primary
fire and rescue services provider for Whitpain Township. Our
township is approximately 12.8 square miles, and is bounded by North
Wales Road to the west, Township Line Road to the south, Butler Pike to
the east, and an imaginary line extending Township Line Road in the
north.
In addition, we provide fire and rescue services to the Pennsylvania
Turnpike and its patrons for the Northeast Extension (Route 476) from
the junction with the main east-west Turnpike in Plymouth Meeting
(milemarker 20.0) to the Lansdale Interchange (milemarker 30.3).
Lastly, we provide mutual aid assistance to some of our neighboring
fire departments for fire and rescue services. In some cases
this
even includes first alarm assignments due to the proximity of our
stations to the other townships.
For the purposes of alarm responses, Whitpain is subdivided into 47
'boxes'. Since Whitpain is municipality #46 in Montgomery
County,
these are referred to as boxes 46-1 through 46-47. In
addition,
there are approximately 45 other boxes assigned, based upon target
hazard as follows:
46-50 - 46-57 - office
buildings/complexes
46-60 - 46-66 - places of worship
46-70 - 46-76 -
apartments/townhomes/hotels
46-80 - 46-87 - schools/day care
46-90 -
46-99 - special hazards.
Each of these boxes has a unique hierarchy of resources predetermined
for dispatch purposes. Each box has 20 fire engines, 10
ladder
trucks, 6 fire rescue trucks and several other resources pre-defined in
the CAD system at the Montgomery County Emergency Operations Center.
