1600 Block of Burke Ave.
House Fire

At 0101 hours on March 16, 2010 Centre Square Fire Company along with mutual aid from the Norriton Fire Engine Company and Second Alarmers Rescue Squad were dispatched for a building fire on the 1600 block of Burke Ave. Whitpain Township Police arrived and reported heavy smoke from the basement. Single occupant escaped uninjured. North Penn Fire Company was added to the assignment as the RIT unit. Chief 33 arrived and established 33 command. Engine 33 arrived and advanced an 1 3/4 hose line through the front door, E-61 arrived and supplied E-33 with water. Deputy 33 (operations officer) reported fire in the basement at the electrical panel with extension into the ceiling. Power was secured at the electric meter and the interior attack crew lead by Captain 33 made a quick knock on the fire. Crews checked for extension on first floor with none found. Fire was placed under control at 0142 hours, FM-46-2 on scene to investigate. All units cleared the scene at 0329 hours.
