Task Force Deployment / Structure Fire
2569 Skippack Pike, Worcester
On Sunday 25 January 2009, the Centre Square Fire Company was dispatched at 0053 hours as part of a deployment of the Montgomery County Fire Task Force. This Task Force previously was stood up as a way to quickly bring several resources to bear on a situation without depleting any one particular fire department. In this instance the Montgomery County Fire Task Force was being deployed to stand by at Lionville Fire Company, Chester County Station 47 at Routes 113 and 100. Many Chester County fire departments were already tied up with a multi-alarm fire in Coatesville. Montgomery County units first staged at their deployment point at Montgomery County Fire Academy in Conshohocken. By about 0150 hours the Task Force was en route to Lionville, and they arrived at 0243 hours.
Task Force #1 was composed of the following units (with new unit designations):
- Task Force Leader #1 – Chief 53 (Lower Providence)
- Montgomery County Engine #1 – Lower Providence
- Montgomery County Engine #2 – Centre Square (Engine 33)
- Montgomery County Engine #3 – Plymouth
- Montgomery County Truck #1 – Norristown
At 0430 hours, Task Force #1 was assigned to assist Washington Hose Company, Chester County station 41, to get their units back in service following the multi-alarm fire. However, while the task force was preparing to move out to Chester County station 41 they were redirected to a working dwelling fire at the corner of Byers Road and Eagle Farms Road in West Pikeland Township. Upon arrival, the task force, along with some Chester County units, found a fully involved house fire. They performed an exterior attack to bring the fire under control and then performed overhaul.
