Vehicle Rescue
Lewis Lane at Skippack Pike

Centre Square Fire Company was dispatched, along with the Wissahickon Fire Company, at 0101 hours for a vehicle rescue in the area of Skippack Pike and Lewis Lane. Chief 33 arrived in the area first and found a single-vehicle accident on Lewis Lane, a few hundred yards north of Skippack Pike. The vehicle had hit and broken a utility pole and came to rest on its side. Wires were down with the pole being down. The Chief immediately called for PECo to respond. Arriving units checked the car from a distance to ensure that no occupants remained in side - there were none. A Whitpain Police sergeant had witnessed at least one occupant crawl out and flee the scene, running north on Lewis Lane. Fire units stood by while a police search dog was brought in to search the nearby area. After that was unsuccessful, crews began methodically searching the nearby woods, looking for likely injured occupant. Crews also stood by until PECo arrived and removed power and made the scene safe.
