  • CSFC Fire safety visit with Boy Scouts
On Friday 14 March the CSFC visited the St. John's church for a Boy Scout function, highlighting Fire Safety in the visit.  As part of the visit, CSFC personnel showed the Boy Scouts how to fight stove fires using our new fire extinguisher training  simulator.  Shown below, Engineer John Posen works with the scouts on their technique.

  • CSFC Comedy Night planned
Recently, the CSFC announced the date for the next comedy night.  This one is planned for Saturday 12 April 2008.  Click here for details.




  • CSFC loses John Schoppe
On 19 February 2008, CSFC Vice President John Schoppe unexpectedly passed away.  In addition to being Vice President, John had served CSFC for 16 years and was past President and past Treasurer.  He was also a Life Member of the Third Distrcit Fire  Company in Bristol, PA.   We will miss his insight and his mentorship.

  •  Santa visits Whitpain Township

On Saturday 15 December, the CSFC accompanied Santa Claus as he rode throught Whitpain Township visiting all the neighborhoods.  The big guy had a great day greeting many residents and distributing candy to all the kids.  Right before leaving the fire station, the crew got together for a brisk group shot.

  • Wings Field Day supported by CSFC

On Saturday 9 September, Wings Field held its annual vintage aircraft and automobile show.  Once again, CSFC was there.  Members showed off Squad 33 and talked to attendees about fire prevention, fire safety and ways to join our team.

  •  North Penn Fire Company "Big Bertha" Parade

On Saturday 8 September, while some units were at Wings Field day, others were in North Penn, attending the North Penn Fire Company "Big Bertha" parade.  This parade was held by North Penn Fire Company to celebrate the restoration of their "Big Bertha" antique truck.  CSFC units in attendance included the Chief in his command vehicle, our 1919 REO antique fire engine.  Leading the way was Dalmation Aerial.  Shown below is the 3-month old pup leading her owner Lt. Rich Moser down the street.  Aerial took 2nd place in the parade as best appearing Dalmatian.

  •  Fire Chief meets place-kicker - Bank opening

On Saturday, 21 July, the Harleysville National Bank celebrated its grand opening.  There to help them celebrate in style was Fire Chief Lee Miller, who ran into Philadelphia Eagles place-kicker David Akers.

  •  Fire Truck is center of attention at child's birthday party

On Saturday 21 July, CSFC members attended a party - a birthday party for a local youngster.  Members brought TW33 and showed it off for all to see.  It was the highlight of the party!

  •  CSFC attends Memorial Day service

This year on Memorial Day, 28 May 2007, our members helped remember our veterans as they participated in a Memorial Day service at Boehms Church.  Chief Lee Miller led a contingent of CSFC members in representing the CSFC during these services.

  •  CSFC supports Stoney Creek Fair

On Sunday afternoon 20 May 2007, we attended the annual Stoney Creek Elementary School Fair.  Captain Chris Lukens and CHief Engineer Frank Green brought Tower 33 to the school and spoke with fair attendees and showed them our tower ladder.

  •  Presentation to Historical Society

On Monday 9 April 2007, Ex-Chief and Life Member Ed Ross was a special guest speaker at the regular meeting of the Whitpain Historical Society.  Chief Ross spoke with the society members about the history of the CSFC, and was able to add his personal insight regarding the last 40 years at CSFC.  In the picture below he is shown discussing the cover of the Saturday Evening Post in 1949.

  •  CSFC Open House

On Saturday 5 May 2007, the CSFC held an open house at the main fire station (33A).  Attendees were able to learn about all the different folks from our community who make up the CSFC - students, war veterans, business owners, professionals, retirees, etc.  and all the different things that go on behind the scenes.   They got to ask questions and see oru equipment as well.  Thanks to all who took the time to visit!

  • Baskin-Robbins ice cream for firefighters night
On Wednesday 2 May 2007, the CSFC was on hand at the Baskin-Robbins at 881 Butler Pike, Blue Bell to assist Baskin-Robbins as they rolled back prices to honor America's firefighters and to create an opportunity for customers to donate to local fire charities.

On a national level, Baskin-Robbins made a $100,000 donation to NFFF ( National Fallen Firefighters Foundation ) to mark the event and to reinforce its commitment to the firefighting community.  Read more about the NFFF at www.firehero.org.

  •  CSFC Old-Timer's Breakfast

On Saturday morning 14 April 2007, the CSFC held a breakfast for CSFC "old timers" - life members who have served the organization for at least 20 years.  Many of our Life Members were able to come out and have a great  time, sharing stories with some of today's younger members and reminiscing.  The Old Timers also got a chance to look at an old map of Whitpain Township.  Based on their discussion, the map most likely dates to around 1940.

  • CSFC attends PNC Bank grand opening
On Saturday 24 March, the CSFC attended he PNC Bank's grand opening on Norristown Road.  Engineer Neal Bradley and Firefighter Dave Schoppe brought Tower 33 to the event.  In addition to meeting some of our local firefighters, attendees got a chance to meet Philadelphia Eagle John Runyan.

  •  Cub scout pack 422 tours firehouse
On Friday 9 March, local Cub scout pack 422 dropped by station 33A to visit us.  The scouts got to learn about what we do, and even got some hands-on experience with the Jaws of Life (crushing cans) and a thermal imaging camera.  They also got to see one of the Pack parents dress up as a firefighter.  As always, we thank the troop leaders for this opportunity to teach the scouts.

  • CSFC holds comedy night 
On St. Patrick's Day, we held our most recent comedy night.  We thank everyone who came out and had a great time.  Check back here on our web site for future news about the next time we'll get together for soem laughs.

  • Senator Rafferty visits CSFC
On 8 February, State Senator John Rafferty dropped by to visit the CSFC at our monthly business meeting.  He presented us with a US flag from the State Capitol at Harrisburg, along with a proclamation stating the flag had flown over the Capitol.  While there, he discussed some of the on-going legislative topics pertaining to first responders with us.

  • Scouts tour fire station
On back-to-back nights of 7 & 8 February, the CSFC hosted cub scout groups at station 33A.  First, on 7 February, we were visited by Cub Scout Pack 22 Den 1, and then on 8 February Boy Scout Troop 6 stopped by for a tour.  During their visits, we showed them the Jaws of Life, allowed them to try on firefighter's gear, sit in the truck and use a thermal imaging camera.  Troop 6 got an extra surprise when State Senator John Rafferty, already at the station to visit our members, joined them for their tour.

The scouts and parents all learned a lot and enjoyed the tours.  The members of CSFC thank the troup leaders for this opportunity to teach the scouts.

  • Annual Banquet & Awards Night
On the night of 27 January, we had our banquet at the Meadowlands Country Club.  Our annual awards were handed out.  The following members were honored:

  • CSFC finishes 2006 with record year
Recently, the CSFC closed out 2006 having responded to 728 calls throughout the year.  This was 19% higher than the previous year and more than 11% higher than the previous peak total.  For a graphical view of our call volume throughout the years, click here.














  • Firefighters Life-Saving Efforts Recognized
Recently, CSFC firefighters and township career firefighters were recognized by the Whitpain Township Board of Supervisors for their heroic efforts on 26 July 2006.  On  that date, the CSFC was dispatched to a call on Collins Place for fumes in the bulding at 1503 hours.  Volunteer and career firefighters responded and worked together to successfully save the life of the occupant from a potentially lethal situation in the basement.  Career firefighters Don Lynch and Joelle Lesniak arrived first, discovered one worker overcome by fumes in the basement and rescued the victim while wearing full protective gear, including SCBA.  The CSFC members, on the next-in crew, supported the first crew with ventialtion.  Firefighters Lynch and Lesniak received Certificates of Valor, and the five CSFC members received Unit Citations.

Those who responded and participated in this rescue were presented with their awards at the recent Township meeting on 5 December 2006.  Pictured below, from left to right, are Firefighter Ken Licwinko, Firefighter John Maguire Jr., Engineer Neal Bradley, Firefighter Joelle Lesniak, Firefighter Don Lynch, Captain Andrew O'Hara and Lieutenant Chris Lukens.

  • CSFC takes second place with Rescue 33
At the annual July 4th parade in Oreland, CSFC took second place for Best Appearing Rescue with Rescue 33.  Pictured below with the award are Lieutenant Rich Moser, Chief Engineer Frank Green, firefighter Chris Walter and enginer Dave ("Fugi") Walter.
