Over the past few months CSFC has noticed many residencies with poorly displayed house numbers. We would like to remind everyone to make sure your house numbers are displayed clearly, either on the sidewalk or mailbox. If your number is displayed on your mailbox please make sure is it visible from both directions. If you have any questions please contact Whitpain Township Code Enforcement.
Local hero Madeline Jones was recently presented with a commendation plaque for helping get her family to safety during a house fire.
On March 7, 2011 at 0431 hrs, CSFC was dispatched to the 1700 block of Governors Way for a reported residential building fire. Chief 33 arrived to a two story single family dwelling with nothing showing. Further investigation found fire in the walls in a second floor bedroom above an attached garage. Crews were able to locate the fire and extinguish it before it spread throughout the home.
This was due to the quick action by the oldest daughter, Madeline Jones, who woke up when she smelled the odor of something burning. She immediately alerted her parents and younger sister and got everyone out of the house safely. When Chief 33 arrived, he was able to find the area in which the fire was located with a thermal imaging camera that had recently been purchased with a grant given by Fireman's Fund Insurance, the same company that insured the Jones family. A commendation plaque was presented to Madeline at the firehouse along with members from Fireman's Fund.
