Vehicle Rescue
2569 Skippack Pike, Worcester Township

Centre Square Fire Company was dispatched at 2207 for a vehicle rescue at the intersection DeKalb Pike and Skippack Pike.  However, as soon as the first CSFC chief officer signed on the air, the county advised that police could find nothing in that area and they were searching for the accident.  As CSFC units proceeded to the area, they were later advised that the accident had been located on Skippack Pike in Worcester Township.  Station 83, Worcester Volunteer Fire Department, was added to the assignment and CSFC units proceeded west approximately 2 miles.  Units arrived to find two vehicles, one on its roof and the other with heavy front-end damage, and the single occupant of each vehicle entrapped, with gasoline on the ground.  CSFC units stabilizd both vehicles, addressed the gasoline hazard and prepared to begin extrication efforts.  As the paramedics from Second Alarmers worked on the patients, we realized that patient removal was not going to require the use of the Jaw of Life.  CSFC units assisted Second Alarmers with patient removal and also joined Worcester units in providing fire hoseline protection.  Both patients were flown to trauma centers and the Worcester firefighters handled both landing zones.
