Vehicle Rescue
Mid-County Interchange, I-476

Centre Square Fire Cmpany and Harmonville Fire Company (44) were dispatched at 1300 hours for a vehicle rescue in the vicinity of the Mid-County interchange where the Blue Route and the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike come together.  Units arrived on location to find the accident had occurred in the northbound lanes, just prior to the tollbooth.  One of the occupants of a car involved was trapped and required extrication.  The car had been hit from behind by a truck and the extrication presented some unique challenges.  Firefighters from both departments worked together and the victim was removed and transferred to PennStar medical flight personnel farily quickly.  Plymouth Fire Company (43) assisted 33 & 44 by taking care of the helicopter landing zone - PennStar landed on the closed high-speed EZ Pass lanes nearby.
