Townhouse fire
126 Splitrail Lane, Blue Bell

The CSFC, along with Wissahickon Fire Fire Compnay (7) was dispatched at 0645 hours for a roof fire at 126 Splitrail Lane in the Steeplechase Development of Blue Bell.  Deputy Chief 33 Lee Miller radioed that he had fire showing in the sky from about a mile away.  Initial units encountered a fast-moving fire  that had already burned through the roof and was exposing the adjoining townhomes.  Additional alarms were requested - eventually five alarms in all - and units had to contend with neighboring townhouses catching on fire as wind-borne embers landed on the wood shake roofs.  In all, nine townhomes were destroyed by the fire.
